Riesling

Well-treated Riesling produces wines with such amazing grape acidity that they represent a special class of quality. It is full-bodied, lower in alcohol, intense in aroma and flavour and has a long shelf life. At a certain stage of bottle maturity, the finest Riesling develops a lively and spicy bouquet, which is referred to as 'petrolly'. In its homeland, Germany, Riesling produces great noble sweet wines, but thanks to global warming it also produces fine, firm, dry wines. In Germany and Alsace (France) it is still considered the noblest grape variety and is also very popular in Australia and Austria.
