'Sono' from the Tre Monti winery is a distinctive red wine from Imola in the province of Bologna in Emilia-Romagna. This label is obtained from 100% Sangiovese grapes from vineyards about 25 years old, which are grown using the double-curtain espalier method on gentle hills at 150 metres above sea level on clay soil. The winery, founded by Sergio Navacchio, who still carefully supervises the activities of his children, owns about 55 hectares and represents the top commodity in the area, which is able to produce unique and interesting wines thanks to the transition to organic farming in 2011.
'Sono' is produced from carefully selected grapes and is hand-harvested in late September. The grapes are finely crushed and then undergo alcoholic fermentation in the cellar in stainless steel vessels at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins for about 8 days. The wine is then separated from the skins and refined in stainless steel vats for at least 5 months. It is then bottled without the addition of sulphites.
Tre Monti's 'Sono' is an intense ruby red colour with light purple highlights. The nose shows intense aromas of red fruits and berries, including cherries, blackberries, raspberries and currants, floral notes of violet and myrtle berries, hints of tobacco and sweet spices. In the mouth it is round, enveloping and warm, with good freshness and well-present tannins. This wine made without added sulphites.
